Anita Bryant's Grounding in Opposition

If homosexuality was the normal way, God would have made Adam and Bruce.

On January 18, 1977, the Dade County Commission, located in Miami, passed an ordinance, Dade County Ordinance 77-4, that prevented those who identified as part of the LGBTQ+ community from being mistreated. Mistreatment due to sexual orientation included not being allowed a job, lower wage, etc. The accepted norm at the time was for people to be heterosexual, straight.

Prior to the Dade County Commission passing the ordinance, there were multiple other ordinances also passed in other states supporting the LGBTQ+ community. The ordinances are all beneficial to the LGBTQ+ community, allowing for them to become more socially accepted.

There were, however, people who still objected to the idea. In specific, Anita Bryant, founder of the Save Our Children Campaign, especially believed that God is the one to guide every and he will not accept homosexuals.
